My fabric painting is directly inspired by abstract expressionist artists, especially this Jackson Pollock painting titled "Convergence." Another inspiration for the dedication to my painting comes from the first horse who taught me how to ride, Pintura, the gorgeous Hanoverian mare smiling in this photo. By the way, "Pintura" means "painted" in Spanish!

I didn't go to art school, but I do have a doctoral degree and have been teaching writing and rhetoric in the university for almost 30 years. (School nerd, what can I say?) I'm a pianist and a writer. Painting fabric is my new love and new direction in life as I wind down my academic career.

Painting fabrics is a blast. Even if you don't think you're an artist, I heartily recommend that you try something new when the feeling strikes. Discover your skills and unleash your creativity!
